Mans control of his ecosystem and other fantasies

I read today that 51 percent of the U.S. population believes in creationism over evolution. In the N.Y. Times article, 31 percent believe that creationism should be taught in schools instead of evolution. It is my sincere hope that natural selection catches up with these individuals.

Is the world going into another ice age? Maybe. Is it because I drive a V8 car and consume electricity? I doubt it. The earth is a volitile place. It's in a constant state of change. And I don't mean politically, or technologically, I mean ecologically. If the earth decides to raise the temperature, and generate record hurricanes... all the regulations we can dream up won't stop it. I find it hilarious that the US will fine our companies if they pollute, but another country can burn all the coal they can strip mine, and we'll still buy their products, cause we can't make them cheap enough here. Am I the only one that finds that funny?
